The homeowner and I are serious about finding a buyer that will appreciate a very special Old Oakville Historic Home, it is large enough to be used for a bed and breakfast and a family home, with privacy for family and guests. Hi Terry,

We have quite a few “heritage homes” in Oakville. 150 years ago, the owner of this home was a grain merchant. Oakville being on the lake also had many ship-builders. Remember Canadians were historically hewers of wood and drawers of water! A little different than the cottonfields of Carolina. You’ll have to come up for a visit, it’s not too bad of a drive, we drive all the way to Florida quite frequently. Hilary

Hilary, I love homes with history. Are there many historic homes in Oakville? or just a few left? Where do you think a buyer will come from, nearby Ontario? What kind of work was done there 150 years ago to allow for the building of what we would call a plantation home down here? I wonder… Thanks for all the photos too. Terry McDonald, Charlotte NC
